Glad I went to the BCSS general meeting in Richmond but had to take a cab as my key fob died and the alarm on my RV could not be disarmed. Jennifer Whiteside the Minister of Mental Health and Addictions showed up on a Sat. and addressed us she said as a child her family had to deal with a young female who had schizophrenia and they could have used a group like BCSS to help them, maybe 100 attended. Dr. Mahavir Agarwal gave a speech and I learned a few things schizophrenia in and of itself affects the body especially the gut and the gut affects the brain and mind a woman in the audience concurred with her example. He among other things leads the Metabolic Clinic and the Clozapine Clinic at CAMH. He mentioned the common side effect of psych meds being weight gain I noted the free food of lemon cake/chocalate chip cookies/and chia cookies there was a lot left over I hope the hotel staff and the poor got the rest. My experience with Clozapine was it made me as weak as a kitten still had serious hallucinations. The BCSS female who talked a lot from the lectern was 6 ft tall!!
