Hi and Shalom,

I hope the PM is voted out next election I think he should be in prison but he strongly condemned those incidents in Montreal and he appointed Irwin Cotler Canada's special envoy on combatting antisemitism. Trudeau created that post. Glad Hamas is being blasted to bits glad Iran has stated they will not directly participate in the conflict. Veltmann in Ont. the druggie racist was just convicted of killing 4 ppl and attempted murder of another just for wearing Moslem garb he did not know them yes I see a rise in hate against Jews but keep it in perspective in the last 17 days I have seen 6 swastika tags or 1488 all were defaced. Canada needs the death penalty again. The leader of the Tories says the IRG should be banned in Canada I agree.

OTTAWA – B’nai Brith Canada is indignant that Prime Minister Justin Trudeau felt the need to indirectly accuse Israel of targeting civilians in Gaza in an emotionally charged Tuesday address in Vancouver.

Among other things, Trudeau said the “price of justice” for Hamas’ brutal Oct. 7 terrorist attacks could not be the “continued suffering of all Palestinian civilians,” especially “women, children, and babies.” He also said, “Even wars have rules,” implying Israel’s forces are violating international law.

As B’nai Brith’s Michael Mostyn and David Matas recently argued in an op-ed, knee-jerk claims that Israel is violating international law in responding to Hamas terrorism only benefits Hamas.

“Unfortunately, the PM did not offer any constructive solutions to help people on the ground in Gaza,” said Mostyn, B’nai Brith Canada’s Chief Executive Officer. “Passionately conveying misinformation is especially irresponsible at a time like this, when antisemitism is spiking.”

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu also condemned Trudeau’s comments:

“While Israel is doing everything to keep civilians out of harm's way, Hamas is doing everything to keep them in harm's way,” he said in a post on X. “Israel provides civilians in Gaza humanitarian corridors and safe zones, Hamas prevents them from leaving at gunpoint.

"It is Hamas not Israel that should be held accountable for committing a double war crime – targeting civilians while hiding behind civilians."

Post on X by Israel PM Benjamin Natanyahu condemning Trudeau’s remarks

Within the last two weeks, tensions spilling over from the Middle East conflict have contributed to hatred and even violence on our streets. In Montreal, Jewish institutions were shot at on two separate occasions and a Molotov Cocktail was thrown at a synagogue. Surely the Prime Minister must understand the negative impact spreading misinformation about Israel has on the Jewish community in Canada.

“As PM, he must be a voice of reason, calm and unity,” Mostyn said. “Sadly, the speech he gave in Vancouver failed woefully in that respect.”

LOL no proof of that no convictions and I note you never condemn the I.S or U.N. or B.K. or H.A.M.C. all of whom have numerous convictions for violence. Are you calling for them to be banned? Bnai Brith is frequently quoted in MSM.

IRG was banned in 2019 by America you should move to Iran you grey haired ninny. Canada should ban IRG already we already banned the not that big a deal in Canada Proud Boys.

https://www.iranintl.com/en/202308286668 The leader of the Tory party wants them banned so do I.

There are 73 groups on Canada's terrorist list, but the Revolutionary Guard is not one of them. Ottawa has intensified measures against the regime in recent years, especially following the downing of a civilian airliner by IRGC in 2020 killing dozens of Canadians and the nationwide protests following the death of 22-year-old Mahsa Amini in the custody of police.

Pundit Babak Taghvaee said earlier in the week, “Canada is a Paradise for IRGC terrorists, authorities of Iran's Islamic Regime and their supporters.”

On Saturday, a video went viral in which a supporter of the Iranian regime chanted slogans in support of the Islamic Republic and its leaders Ali Khamenei through a megaphone as he passed through a neighborhood with a lot of Iranian shops and businesses.

So far, Canada has sanctioned 170 Iranian individuals and 192 Iranian entities, including key IRGC and members of the regime’s security, intelligence and economic apparatuses. In 2012, Canada designated Iran as a state supporter of terrorism under the State Immunity Act.

A former Iranian minister has been spotted in Montreal, leading to uproar about Canada’s loose immigration controls in allowing entry to regime’s officials.

The footage circulating on social media captured Hassan Ghazizadeh Hashemi, the former Health Minister in President Hassan Rouhani's administration, strolling through the streets of Montreal, accompanied by his family. The video is part of promotional materials for Quebec's tourism industry.

“Canada has designated the Islamic Republic of Iran as a regime that has engaged in terrorism and systematic and gross human rights violations,” Marco Mendicino, former Minister of Public Safety announced in November 2022.

After years of calls by human rights activists and Iranians dissidents, Canada finally announced sanctions last November against Iran’s Revolutionary Guard (IRGC), permanently banning over 10,000 of its officers and other senior officials from entering Canada.

“We’re using the most powerful tools at our disposal to crack down on Iran's brutal regime. We'll be pursuing a listing of IRGC leadership under our Immigration and Refugee Protection Act, making over 10,000 senior IRGC members inadmissible to Canada,” Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said at the time.

According to Marco Mendicino, a member of parliament who was the Minister of Public Safety at the time, the entry ban into Canada was not limited to just members of the Revolutionary Guards, but also included heads of state, members of the Cabinet, ambassadors, senior diplomats, members of the judiciary, senior military and intelligence officials and senior public servants.

No Canadian official has yet commented about Ghazizadeh’s presence but the ban on regime officials “applies to those who were senior officials at any time from November 15, 2019, onwards.” Ghazizadeh was elected as the health minister in 2012 and resigned from this position in January 2017.

Nevertheless, based on the spirit of the legislation and the designation of the regime as a sponsor of terror, Ghazizadeh’s admission raises questions.

Canada-based activist and opposition figure Hamed Esmaeilion -- whose daughter and wife were killed by the IRGC in the downing of a Ukrainian airliner in 2020 -- took to Twitter on Wednesday in protest to Ghazizadeh’s presence in Canada despite the ban. (Greg: Saw him on CTV News Channel Hamed Esmaeilion today hope he lives to see the Iranian regime fall.)

He called on Public Safety Minister Dominic LeBlanc and Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Minister Marc Miller to follow up on the case. “We need a response and action now,” he said.

Similar calls for action abound on social media platforms with the Iranian Twitterati posting controversial remarks or actions by Ghazizadeh during his term as the health minister. Hailing from Khorasan province, Ghazizadeh’s family has always been close to the ruling regime in Iran. One of his cousins, Amir-Hossein Ghazizadeh Hashemi, a lawmaker from 2008 to 2021 is now Ebrahim Raisi’s vice president and the head of Foundation of Martyrs and Veterans Affairs, a wealthy organization in Iran with hands in numerous construction projects. Another one of his cousins is Ehsan Ghazizadeh Hashemi, also a lawmaker since 2016 and a former senior official.

Canada broke off diplomatic relations with Iran in 2012, citing its support for the Syrian government, non-compliance with United Nations resolutions over its nuclear program, and fears for Canadian diplomats after protestors stormed the British embassy.

Critics of the Islamic Republic have repeatedly called on Western countries to restrict and prohibit the travel of Iranian officials and high-ranking figures to their territories, a measure meant to prevent Western countries from being a safe haven for the regime’s officials.

The families of victims of Ukrainian flight PS752, shot down by the IRGC, have held numerous rallies calling for tougher measures against Iran.

In September 2022, a Canadian journalist criticized Ottawa for spreading a “lush welcome mat” for rich Iranians linked to the regime but refusing visas to relatives of Flight PS752 victims. Earlier in 2022, several human rights groups issued an open letter calling on Canada to stop former officers of Iran’s military and other human rights violators from entering the country after a short video of a retired commander of the Tehran's Police forces and the IRGC, Morteza Talaie, working out in a gym in Canada went viral.

Despite these calls, senior figures are being spotted in foreign countries. In one of the latest cases in early July, German media confirmed the presence of Hossein-Ali Nayeri, a 'hanging judge' involved in the summary trial and execution of thousands of Iranian prisoners in the 1980s, receiving medical treatment in a hospital in Hanover, Germany.

https://www.iranintl.com/en/202308095974

The federal government is under intense pressure from the Iranian-Canadian diaspora and the Conservatives to get tough on Iran.

The death of 22-year-old Mahsa Amini in police custody in September triggered massive protests across Iran and around the world, including in Canada. Iran's morality police arrested Amini for wearing her mandatory hijab "improperly."

On Nov. 14, the federal government listed Iran as a regime that engages in terrorism and systemic human rights violations and banned regime members, including their relatives, from entering Canada. Immigration Minister Sean Fraser said the ban could lead the government to revoke a relative's permanent resident status if they're already in Canada.

Some Iranian-Canadians claim that regime officials have immediate family living in Canada and may have financial assets here. Many in the Iranian community also allege that female family members of Iranian officials in Canada often don't adhere to the strict dress codes the regime itself requires for women in Iran.

A video and photos posted on social media in January showed Talaei walking on a treadmill at a gym in Richmond Hill in 2021. Swiss-based Iranian independent journalist Abdollah Abdi posted the images, raising questions about what Talaei was doing in the country.

Abdi said Talaei later told him he was visiting his daughter but insisted it was a private matter.

An Iranian journalist inside Iran, Fariborz Kalantari, tweeted that the question isn't why Talaei was in Canada but rather how his daughter obtained Canadian residency.

The National Post was the first Canadian media outlet to report on the photos
