Lots of big rabbits mostly black almost no junkie debris 2 needles in 14 days and one was under the Dinsmore Bridge out of sight. Lots of city walking trails and dog parks and parks and athletic playing fields. Only illegal drug sticker I have seen in 14 days of daily 2-4 hour walks was for a shroom store on a pole at the Quality Inn 7228 Westminster Hwy on the side towards the Ramada Inn. Way to go Richmond.
Homeless problem is the worst I have ever seen here and I grew up here attended Walter Lee/McRoberts/McNair and came back for 2 years in the early 1990's. 2 big tents at Briqhouse Park (bought weed there in the early 80's it was obvious what was going and the RCMP shut it down fairly quick) facing city hall across the street 3 at the old street hockey rink nearby plus one at the building next to it to the east. 4700 Vanguard Way large homeless thing black plastic over it signs warn against theft. Nearby 4333 Vanguard Rd. 2 tents across the street cut up bicycle parts and wheelchair parts stacked neatly by the entrance they are keeping it clean.

One Richmond city councillor would like to see massage parlours where sex work is being done be denied business licences and ultimately shut down. (Greg:
I agree. The old one in Whalley had 2 murders.)
Coun. Kash Heed said he wants city council to have a discussion about these businesses that he claims allow for human trafficking.

“We have an incredible market, unfortunately, in Richmond and a demand for the services of sex-trade workers,” Heed told the community safety committee last week.
He had previously brought up the topic the day before at another meeting, saying he planned to address the issue the next day and ask city staff to look into how these businesses could be denied licences.
Heed claimed one can google “massage parlours that we licence here” in Richmond that have scantily clad women advertised on them.
“You know darned well they’re not just giving regular massage therapy,” Heed said.
Mayor Malcolm Brodie noted the topic could be revisited, however, he also said “extensive steps have been taken to safeguard the employees who work there, and to prevent some of the abuses that have happened elsewhere.”
A quick search of the city’s business licence database show four businesses with “body rub” licences in Richmond.
Mark Corrado, director of bylaws and licencing with the city, said Richmond is known for having the most “restrictive” licence requirements in the province.
This includes regulating clothing, age, locks, insurance bonds, lighting and criminal record checks.
Heed noted condos and other residential buildings can be seen advertised on the Internet as places where sex work is taking place.
He said he doesn’t think “morally and ethically and legally” these businesses with sex trade should be allowed to operate with Richmond business licences. (Greg: Totally agree.)
“We’ve not got to the point in Canada where as a society we’re going to accept prostitution as an industry,” Heed said.
Sex work advocacy groups, however, note having massage parlours, or "body rub" establishments, are safer than the alternative, which is women doing sex work alone in their home where they can be subject to violence. (Greg: Safer is working at Save On or Starbuck's or A and W or being a housewife.)
Furthermore, women whose immigration status is precarious won’t report abuse or violence to police for fear of deportation. (Greg: Canada has 500,000 illegal immigrants it is estimated another TRUDEAU FAIL saw on the TV news 41 illegals are being deported a day the highest number in 3 years that is good pick up the pace let us have 200 a day gone in 6 months cut annual immigration 90%.)
Instead of defaulting to using police resources to crack down on sex work, Heed said he’d like to tackle it from a “property use” perspective. (Greg: Do both.)
In the end, the committee unanimously supported asking city staff to report back at the next meeting about how they could deal with the “onslaught” of underground and “above-ground” body-rub and escort establishments.

Police have identified the victims in a Richmond homicide as a father and his 13-year-old son.
The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team says the 46-year-old man and his son were found murdered in their Richmond home Thursday night (Nov. 30.).
IHIT has since taken over the investigation, working with Richmond RCMP, the RCMP Forensic Identification Service and the BC Coroners Service.
Sgt. Timothy Pierotti said Richmond RCMP had been called to the home in the 6200-block of Goldsmith Drive around 10:30 p.m. for a report of a “suspicious circumstance.” Asked on what the circumstance was, Pierotti said he didn’t have that exact information and that’s “just how the information was relayed to me.”
But he added he believed it was a family member that called 911 about the deaths.
It was a “short window” in which the father and son were killed, he noted, as other family members were believed to be home as recently as 8 p.m.
Pierotti said that while the investigation is in its early stages, “evidence suggests that this was a targeted incident and the investigators are still working to determine a motive.” He added that he couldn’t get into the specifics, but whoever is the suspect went to the home with the intention of killing someone.
However, until a motive or suspect is identified, Pierotti can’t comment on exactly what the intent was.
Police have not said how the two were killed.
He said the killing is not believed to be linked to gangs or drugs, adding that “to the best of my knowledge, they were not known to police.”
IHIT is not yet releasing the names of the victims, with Pierotti saying that since it’s the weekend they wanted to give the community and the students at the son’s school a chance to hear from the “right source.”
The man and his son both lived in the home, which is near the area of the Rocky View Playground and the London Sports Fields. The rest of the family was not home at the time of the killing.
“We are asking anyone who may have observed anything suspicious in the area of the Rocky View Playground or the adjoining pathways between 8 p.m. and 10:30 p.m. on November 30 to contact IHIT,” Pierotti said.
“Also, if you were driving or parked in the area and have dash-camera footage, please contact IHIT immediately.”
IHIT is asking anyone with information regarding the investigation, to contact the IHIT Information Line at 1-877-551-IHIT (4448) or by email at ***@rcmp-grc.gc.ca.
